The Apprenticeship Employer Incentive Programme will provide support for SME’s to recruit apprentices aged 16-19, supplying individuals and employers with the skills needed to ensure long-term success and prevent skill shortages in Wales.
Employer Eligibility
The Employer must;
- Be able to confirm that they are not able to recruit an apprentice without the grant
- Be an SME, so have less than 250 employees
- Be based in Wales, or the recruited employee would be based in Wales for at least 51% of their time
- Not have had an employee start an apprenticeship in the last 30 months (the period starts from the start date of the last apprentice employed within the organisation)
- Commit to employing an apprentice for 12 months, or the time taken to complete the apprenticeship programme
- Commit to employing the apprentice for at least 30 hours per week
- Pay the apprentice in line with the legal minimum requirements or more
Apprentice eligibility
The Apprentice must;
- Be a new employee (**an existing employer cannot be converted onto an apprenticeship programme to be eligible for this incentive
- Be aged 16-19 on the day they are recruited
- Be recruited as an apprentice
