The Welsh Government has revealed its programme for government over the next five years and Cambrian Training is pleased to see the commitment to apprenticeships and skills training as part of it.
The Taking Wales Forward plan was published this month with a drive for improving the Welsh economy between 2016 and 2021.
Within the plan, launched by First Minister Carwyn Jones AM, are several key areas that employers should note. These include:
• A commitment to create a minimum of 100,000 high quality, all age apprenticeships
• To “reshape employability support for job-ready individuals, and those furthest from the labour market, to acquire the skills and experience to gain and maintain sustainable employment.”
The commitment to delivering apprenticeships throughout North, Mid, South and West Wales is good to hear.
Apprenticeships are one of our economic success stories in Wales with many businesses committing to and investing in the skills and training through programmes provided and managed by Cambrian Training on behalf of the Welsh Government.
The commitment to employability support for job-ready individuals and skills for those furthest away from the labour market also demonstrates how programmes such as Jobs Growth Wales and the new Employability Skills scheme will also provide opportunities for employers and individuals throughout Wales.
As one of Wales’ leading providers and deliverers of business training, apprenticeships and skills training to a range of sectors, Cambrian Training will be providing the new Employability Skills programme to help people to get a job or to further their learning at a higher level, such as apprenticeships.
It will be targeted at people who are receiving benefits such as Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance or Employment Support Allowance.
Apprenticeship, Jobs Growth Wales and Employability programmes are led by the Welsh Government and supported by the European Social Fund.
